Our Live Pitch for the Awesome Foundation DC!

We are thrilled to have been selected as one of five finalists to pitch at the Awesome Foundation D.C.'s live pitch event. Their criteria? Projects that are awesome - unique, creative, etc... - and that primarily benefit D.C. That's us! Though we didn't win, we got great feedback from the foundation trustees. Here's a bit of our pitch:

In every pocket of D.C., people have stories about the life and culture of their neighborhood, the history of their neighborhood, about the unique spaces in their neighborhood, and about how their neighborhood may be changing.

D.C. Story Circle Project brings people together to share and listen to those stories.

At our pilot event a few weeks ago, 10 complete strangers from Ward 6 walked into the NE neighborhood library, sat in a circle like this one, and listened to each other’s stories. By the end, these strangers had a connection to each other. And each one of them made a commitment to take an action inspired by the stories, like reach out and talk to a neighbor.

D.C. Story Circle Project builds community connections through the sharing of stories. We also record and transcribe them in order to give these wonderful stories back to the community.
